Description:

The Linguistics Program at The University of Montana has a tenure-track opening
at the rank of Assistant Professor for a linguist to teach introductory and
graduate level classes, starting August, 2006. Applicants are asked to document
a primary specialization in phonology or morphology; an active interest in
applied linguistics and endangered languages; and experience in one of the
language families of North America, preferably Salishan or Algonquian.
Applicants are required to give evidence of teaching excellence. We expect the
successful applicant to engage in research, to teach undergraduate and graduate
classes, including one or two seminars each year, and to participate in all the
activities of the MA Program in linguistics. The Linguistics Program is an
interdisciplinary program involving faculty from several disciplines, but the
core faculty is part of the Anthropology Department. The University of Montana
