Description:

The University of Windsor invites applications for a senior position in
Italian Studies with expertise in the area of second language acquisition
and education and/or applied linguistics commencing July 1, 2005. 

The successful candidate for this position will possess a Ph. D. in Italian
language and culture; a substantial academic research and teaching record
consistent with the level of the appointment, as well as an interest and
capability for working with the local Italian community in Italian language
and culture projects. Candidates should know that the University of Windsor
is pursuing the creation of an academic Chair in Italian Studies.

The successful candidate for the position will be responsible for providing
courses in Italian language and culture at all undergraduate levels; will

encourage and contribute to the development of the department's focus on
second language education; will provide core courses related to the second
language acquisition and education theme (taught in English) which will be
common to all language areas of the program.

citizenship/resident status; a detailed curriculum vitae; a statement of
teaching interests and educational philosophy; sample course outlines;
teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness or a
teaching dossier; a tape, two to four minutes in length, of the candidate
reading a short text and introducing her/himself in Italian and English;
