Description:

Three lectureships in linguistics and/or English language
(HUM/005/05)

The School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures at the University of
Manchester is one of the largest and most successful such groupings in the
UK, enjoying outstanding research ratings, strong external grant income and
a good record of postgraduate and undergraduate recruitment. Linguistics
and English Language contributes significantly to the School's success and
has an important role to play in its development. The posts now advertised
have been created in order to further that development substantially. One
post is available in English Sociolinguistics, while for the remaining two
posts preference may be given to candidates offering a specialism in one or
more of the following areas: Pidgin & Creole Linguistics, English
Historical Linguistics, Phonetics, Pragmatics, Adult Psycholinguistics. The
successful candidates will contribute to the development of research and
teaching in their field, offering courses at postgraduate and undergraduate 
level in keeping with their research expertise.

The posts are available from August 2005.

Salary: Two posts are available within the Lecturer B scale (up to
£35,883), one within Lecturer A (up top £27,116).
