Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Literature at the University of Bielefeld has
an opening for the position of a lecturer in Theoretical Linguistics/Syntax.

The successful candidate will have a background in syntax. A specialization in
declarative theories like LFG or HPSG is desirable. Additional qualification in
typology or comparative grammar will be considered a plus.

The earliest starting date for the position is October 1, 2005. The position is
temporary and limited to a period of six years (subject to the restrictions of
the German Hochschulrahmengesetz).

Duties for the position include teaching of syntax and crosslinguistic studies.
The teaching load is two courses (90 minutes per week each) per semester.

The position is at the rank of 'Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter' (M.A. or
equivalent required; Ph.D. or equivalent preferred). The salary is determined by
the German civil servants payscale (Verguetungsgruppe BAT IIa) and amounts to
approximately 42.000 Euro per year. The exact salary amount varies depending on
age and marital status.
