Subject: Call for Nominations: Poetics & Linguistics Association Book Prize

To mark the 25th anniversary of PALA (Poetics and Linguistics Association), a
book prize of £1000 (one thousand pounds sterling) will be awarded to the
author of the book selected as the most influential published since 1980 in the
area of stylistic analysis, or the linguistic analysis of literature, or a
closely related area.

Between now and the annual PALA conference in Huddersfield in July 2005, you are
invited to send in your nominations. You can just suggest a title, or you can
send in a statement of up to 200 words, which will be posted on the website.
Taking these nominations and statements into account, the PALA committee will
select a short list of approximately five, and voting for the final winner will
take place at the conference.

Please send in your nominations to webmaster at pala.ac.uk, or check
http://www.pala.ac.uk/pala25/nominations.htm

(Please tell us how you wish to be credited for your statement, e.g.
"Professor Joe Bloggs of Poppleton University", or "Joe from Poppleton", or "A
young stylistician".)

This is not just open to PALA members, and is a good opportunity to get other
people involved in PALA events of this year.

For more information or to join PALA, please visit the PALA site:
