APHASIA AND AUTISM — SPEECH AND THINKING DISORDERS 

CALL FOR PAPERS

Dear Colleagues, 
we are happy to announce that the 2nd International Speech Therapy Conference
(ISTC-2) entitled: 
APHASIA AND AUTISM — SPEECH AND THINKING DISORDERS
is to take place in Wroc?aw, September 02-04, 2005. 

The conference will be organised by the Postgraduate Speech Therapy Section and
hosted by the University of Wroc?aw (http://www.uni.wroc.pl/), located in the
capital of the Lower Silesia region (http://www.wroclaw.pl/). The University
offers all the facilities required for an international conference. 

We invite you to submit proposals for 20-minute talks with 10-minute discussion
in the following areas of psycho- and neurolinguistics: 
1. Neuropsychological basis of speech therapy.
2. Neurolinguistics in practical speech therapy.
3. Psycholinguistic aspects of speech therapy.
4. Psychostimulative aspects of speech and thinking.
5. Aphasiology - theory and practice.
6. Clinical method in speech therapy.
7. Methods of examining and stimulation of thinking.
8. Contemporary research on linguistic norm.
9. Social and psychological aspects of autism.
10.Theory of Mind and communicative competence.

Conference languages 
The official language of the conference is Polish. Simultaneous translation will
be provided for the English-, German- and Russian-speaking participants. As far
as other languages are concerned, please contact the organisers. 

Important Dates  
Deadline for abstract submission:  March 31, 2005
Notification of acceptance:  June 30, 2005 
Conference:  September 02-–04, 2005 
Submission of full paper:  October 30, 2005 
Review notification:  November 30, 2005
Submission of final paper:  January 10, 2006

Submission Guidelines 
Abstracts should be sent via email, as an attachment, to logopedia at uni.wroc.pl
or by regular post (see the address below). Please include the title
''Conference Abstract'' in the subject line. MS-Word format is preferred or RTF
if necessary. 

Publication 
Submitted papers will undergo a reviewing process. Selected papers will appear
in the conference proceedings that will be published by the Polish Scientific
Publishers or the Wroc?aw University Press (negotiations are still proceeding).

The conference fee is 300.–- PLN (equivalent of 80.–- EURO). It should be
transferred by the 30th of April 2005 to the following bank account:

The Society invites submitted papers, posters and symposia for this meeting.  

TOPICS.  Information about the Society be found at: http://www.eurospp.org. 
Previous topics covered at the ESPP include spatial concepts, simulation theory,
attention, reference, problems of consciousness, emotion, perception, early
numerical cognition, infants' understanding of intentionality, memory and time,
motor imagery, counterfactuals, the semantics/pragmatics distinction, reasoning,
vagueness, mental causation, action and agency, thought without language,
externalism, connectionism, hypnotism, and the interpretation of
neuropsychological results.  

SUBMITTED PAPERS.  Submitted papers are refereed and selected on the basis of
quality and relevance to psychologists, philosophers and linguists.  Submissions
may be by abstract but in the case of philosophical submissions a full paper is
preferred. Papers should not exceed a length of 20 minutes (about 8
double-spaced pages) for a total 30 minute session. 

POSTERS.  A submission for a poster presentation should consist of a 500-word
abstract. Submitted papers may also be considered for presentation as posters.

SUBMITTED SYMPOSIA.  The convenor should submit a brief (1000 word) description
of the symposium topic together with the names of suggested participants (a
symposium is expected to contain 3 or a maximum of 4 speakers in distinct
fields). Potential convenors should email the description and list of speakers
directly to one of the programme chairs by 25 February 2005. 

DEADLINES.  Papers and posters should be submitted by 1 April  2005.
