Meeting Description:

The conference 'Language, History and Cultural identities in the Caucasus' will
be hosted by the Language Department at the School of International Migration
and Ethnic Relations (IMER), Malmoe University (Sweden) in June 17-20, 2005.

We welcome both multidisciplinary papers in the area of language, history and
cultural identities in the Caucasus, and more narrowly focused papers in any of
these disciplines.

The abstract, not exceeding one page, is to be sent as an attached Word-file to
revaz.tchantouria at imer.mah.se by April 15 2005 (notification of acceptance by
April 25).

English is the main conference language, but we would also like to have the
abstract in translation into either Georgian or Russian.

Those wishing to take part in the conference are kindly requested to send a
registration form no later than May 20, 2005 (conference fee: 45 EUR, students
30 EUR). Arrival day and registration: June 17, departure day June 20.

We are pleased to announce the Eighth Durham Postgraduate Conference in
Theoretical and Applied Linguistics in association with the University of
Newcastle on Monday 27th June 2005. The purpose of the conference is to provide
postgraduates studying in ANY area of linguistics with an opportunity to present
their research.

KEY DATES

Deadline for abstracts:  15th March 2005
Notification of acceptance:  19th April 2005
Pre-registration deadline:  20th June 2005
Conference (in Durham):  27th June 2005

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstract submission guidelines are available at
http://www.dur.ac.uk/pgconf.linguistics. Email submissions preferred (Word/PDF
format only). Abstracts should be sent to: pgconf.conference at durham.ac.uk.

Otherwise, paper submissions should be sent to:

Language, University of Durham, Elvet Riverside, New Elvet, Durham DH1 3JT, UK.

Accepted papers will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for
discussion. Speakers will also be invited to submit their paper for publication
in the Durham & Newcastle Working Papers in Linguistics.
