The Swedish national Graduate School of Language Technology (GSLT)
announces four year graduate fellowships beginning 1st Jan. 2006
(application deadline 2nd June, 2005).  Information and an application
form is to be found on:

The Graduate School of Language Technology (GSLT) is a national
graduate school for which Göteborg University (Faculty of Arts) is the
coordinating host.  Students may be registered at any of the following
academic institutions in addition to Göteborg University:

University College of Borås, Chalmers University of Technology, KTH
(Royal Institute of Technology), Linköping University, Lund
University, University of Skövde, Stockholm University, Uppsala
University and Växjö University.

Supervision is also available from SICS (Swedish Institute of Computer
Science).

The school offers a doctoral programme in language technology.  One of
its main aims is to provide advanced training in the foundations of
both speech and natural language processing technologies.

It is committed to an international profile and welcomes applications
from outside of Sweden.  To be eligible for application students must
have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate related field and have
completed the equivalent of at least six months full-time study in
language technology (speech technology and/or computational
linguistics).

Summer course on the future of spoken language systems
Fundación Duques de Soria, Soria, Spain, 11-15 July 2005

The Fundación Duques de Soria is organizing a summer course on the future
of spoken language systems in Soria (Spain) from July 11 to July 15 2005. 

Topics covered are: relationship between speech and gesture (Ll. Payrató,
Universitat de Barcelona), multimodal speech synthesis (I. Iriondo,
Universitat Ramon Llull), spoken language translation (R.E. Banchs,
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), dialogue systems for user with
special needs (S. Aguilera, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), tools for
the analysis of visual information (J.L. Losada, Universidad de Barcelona),
conversational interfaces (M. Obach, VICOMTech), dialogue systems in
commerce (P. Garín, Natural Vox), interactive assistants (J. Ahlund - I.
Bou, Artificial Solutions), and competitivity, technology and innovation:
user interfaces and the IBM experience (L. de Sopeña, IBM Forum Madrid).

The course will be taught in Spanish.
