Meeting Description:

L'objectif de ce séminaire est de faire le point sur les recherches actuellement
menées dans le domaine de la scalarité. Toutes les approches disciplinaires sont
les bienvenues, qu'elles soient monolingues ou multilingues, de la morphologie à
la pragmatique, en passant par le lexique, la syntaxe, la sémantique et le
discours, tant au plan synchronique que diachronique. 

THEMATIQUE
Les axes d'étude suivants nous intéressent particulièrement:
* sémantique de l'expression scalaire: gradation, intensité, comparaison;
* structures comparatives et rôle de l'ellipse;
* fonctionnement des structures dites ''corrélatives'' et limites entre
juxtaposition, coordination et subordination;
* processus de grammaticalisation: expressions scalaires et cohérence argumentative.

MODALITES DE SOUMISSION:
Votre soumission devra comporter:
* Un abrégé anonyme en français ou en anglais ne dépassant pas 2 pages de format
A4 corps Times 12 (bibliographie incluse). L'abrégé devra indiquer clairement le
sujet traité et les conclusions de votre contribution.
* Une page séparée mentionnant vos nom et prénom, votre appartenance
administrative, votre adresse postale, votre courriel et le titre de votre
contribution.

Les abrégés seront envoyés par courrier électronique à
Pascale.Hadermann at UGent.be ou Valerie.Wielemans at UGent.be au format rtf ou doc.

Si votre proposition est retenue, vous seriez prié de remettre un texte de
travail pour le 1er décembre 2005; les consignes suivront. En retour, votre
voyage et logement seront pris en charge par les organisateurs.

Les actes du séminaire seront publiés dans la revue ''Travaux de linguistque''
(date de publication prévue début 2007)

The Graduate Program in Applied Linguistics at Unisinos and the Graduate Program
in Philosophy at Unisinos are honored to announce the International Congress on
Language and Interaction and the III National Congress on Philosophy of
Language, to be held from the 22nd to 25th of August and will gather specialists
from outside and inside Brazil to reflect upon the relations between language
and interaction. 

Tracks for Coordinated Presentation Sessions and Individual Presentation Sessions: 
- Interaction and Linguistic Education in First Language and Second Language
- Interaction and First Language Classroom
- Interaction and Second Language Classroom
- Interaction and Gender
- Interaction and Technology
- Interaction and Work Settings
- Interaction and Bilingualism
- Interaction and Ethnography
- Interaction and Philosophy
- Interaction and Media
- Interaction and Health Care Sciences 


Coordinated sessions - Instructions 

Coordinated sessions will be of 90 minutes length, with three or four
presentations in each session. The proponent of the session must submit the
proposal up to May 15 through e-mail linguagem-interacao at unisinos.br, following
these steps: 

» Body of the message: 
   - full name of the proponent as well as of each participant of the session,
together with title, institution, professional address, session title and track
the session belongs to (according to the list of tracks found on the website) 

» Attached file:
   - up-to-50 words abstract, delineating the theme and the scope of the
coordinated session; abstracts of each participant of the session with up to 600
words indicating the link with the track being proposed 

Abstracts should be submitted in Word format, with Times New Roman font, size
12, and single space; title should be centered and in capital letters. 

The organizer committee will appoint a discussant, taking into consideration the
particularities of each session; with the purpose of allowing more interaction
between participants and discussants, there will be up to 5 simultaneous
sessions per day. 

Papers will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the Congress, formed by
researcher scholars from different institutions. Papers acceptance will be
available on the website on June 15. On this day, information about the norms of
integral publication of the presentations will also be available. 


Individual presentation sessions - Instructions 

Proposals for individual presentations must be submitted up to May 15 through
e-mail linguagem-interacao at unisinos.br, following these steps: 

» Body of the message:
   - full name of the author, title, institution, professional address, and
track the paper belongs to (according to the list of tracks found on the website) 

» Attached file: 
   - up-to-600 words abstract, making the relation with the track chosen clear cut. 

Abstracts should be submitted in Word format, Times New Roman font, size12, and
single space; title should be centered and in capital letters. 

Author's name as well as the institution's should be entered below the title,
aligned to the right margin. 

The organizer committee will appoint a discussant, organized according to the
familiarities of the papers. Sessions will each be 90 minutes long, with 3 or 4
