Description:

In conjunction with Eastern Michigan University's
Minority Graduate Assistantship Program, the Department
of English Language & Literature at EMU is seeking to
support a graduate student pursuing a Master's degree in
the Linguistics Program for the 2005-06 and, funding
permitting, 2006-07 academic years.

The successful applicant will, in addition to pursuing
an M.A., perform the following duties while working 20
hours per week:

- assist faculty in implementing a new professional M.A.
in Language Technology
- work to foster diversity and inclusion within the
program

The EMU Linguistics Program is a small program with six
full-time faculty with specialties in Phonetics and
Phonology, Syntax, Semantics, Psycholinguistics,
Discourse and Text Analysis, Sociolinguistics,
Linguistic Typology and Language Universals, Historical
Linguistics, Field Work and Minority and Endangered
languages. It is the main editing site of the LINGUIST
List, the world's largest online linguistics information
resource, and runs the E-MELD project, which is
designing an infrastructure for the storage of
endangered languages data.
