Description:

The Department of Hispanic Studies invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning Fall 2006.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Hispanic or Romance Linguistics completed by
August 2006. Area of specialization: open. Preference will be given to
specialists in historical linguistics, language & society, language planning,
socio-geographical issues. Evidence of successful scholarship and a strong
research program, excellence in teaching, a strong background in instructional
technology, and native/near-native fluency in Spanish are required. Ability to
teach another Romance language beyond Spanish is highly desirable. The
successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses; work with
the Director of Elementary Language Instruction and the specialist in SLA, and
serve as the technological point-person and liaison of the Department with the
Language Media Center. Teaching load: 2/2. Send letter of application,

recommendation, and a sample of scholarly writing) to the address below.
