For over a decade, the biennial International Symposium on Chinese Languages and Linguistics (IsCLL) has become a major academic event for the small but active linguistic community of Taiwan. 

We are pleased to announce that the next symposium (IsCLL-10) will be held in conjunction with the 14th Annual Conference of the International Association of Chinese Linguistics (IACL-14) at Academia Sinica on May 25-29, 2006, hosted jointly by the Institute of Linguistics of Academia Sinica and the Linguistic Society of Taiwan. The conjoined conference will bear the general theme of LANGUAGE DIVERSITY, and feature several keynote speeches and invited talks by distinguished scholars in Chinese linguistics and specialists on the topic of language diversity. 

IACL-14 & IsCLL-10 Joint Conference
May 25-29, 2006

The 14th Annual Conference of the International Association of Chinese Linguistics (IACL-14) and the 10th International Symposium on Chinese Languages and Linguistics (IsCLL-10) will be jointly held and hosted by the Institute of Linguistics, Academia Sinica. Abstracts are cordially invited. Relevant information is given as follows:

1. Conference date: May 25-29, 2006.

2. Venue: Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan.

3. Program scope: This joint conference will encompass the special theme 
of Language Diversity, in addition to all areas of general Chinese linguistics. Accepted abstracts will be assigned to either the 'special theme' group or the general group following our reviewers' suggestions.

4. Subsidy: Partial travel subsidy will be available only to authors of accepted special-theme abstracts (maximum: 20 papers). Authors from this category will be requested to submit full papers to the conference.

5. Abstract/paper submission: All submitted abstracts and papers (see below) are subject to anonymous review. Please send an English or Chinese abstract in PDF or Word format via email attachment to iacl at gate.sinica.edu.tw. Please use ''IACL-IsCLL abstract'' as subject of the email and include the following information in the body of the email message: a. name of author, b. academic affiliations, c. title of abstract, d. topical area (e.g. language diversity, syntax, cognitive linguistics, etc.), and e. contact information (email and postal addresses). Abstracts should be anonymous (i.e. do not include your name anywhere on the abstract) and less than two pages in length. Special phonetic or script fonts should also be enclosed.

6. Deadline for receipt of abstracts (full-papers in the case of YSA/MJHA competitors, see #9): December 31, 2005

7. Notification of acceptance: By January 31, 2006

8. Deadline for submission of required full special-theme papers: April 30, 2006

9. Participants of the IACL-sponsored Young Scholar Award and Mantaro J. Hashimoto Award competition must submit full papers instead of abstracts by December 31, 2005 (see guidelines at http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/ealc/IACL/ysa.htm).
