Pending final approval of funding, the University of Texas - Pan American is
seeking applications and nominations to fill an Assistant Professor position in
French Sociolinguistics. The faculty member will teach courses and participate
in developing the new French Studies major and minor programs housed in the
Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. Candidates with a research focus
in Canada, the Caribbean, or Africa are particularly encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in Spanish is desirable. Successful applicants will demonstrate a
commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly achievement. The initial
teaching load will be beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in French
and Linguistics, with the opportunity to develop new general education, upper
division, and graduate courses in the area of specialization. Candidates must
possess a PhD in French, Linguistics, or related field by Fall 2006. Send letter of
