Poster session on complex predicate constructions, their structure, and use. The session accompanies the Biennial Rice Symposium series and is titled 'Complex Predicates and Similar Constructions'. 

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Rice Linguistics Society will host a poster session to accompany the 11th Biennial Rice Symposium on Linguistics, to be held March 16-18th in Houston, Texas. 

-Topic-

The theme for the poster session is ''Complex Predicates and Similar Constructions''. We invite papers from all areas and orientations of linguistics that touch upon the structure, meaning, usage, or development of complex constructions. These posters should complement the symposium topic of ''Intertheoretical approaches to complex verb constructions''. For more information, consult www.rice.edu/lingsymp

- Submission Guidelines-

The deadline for submissions is January 20, 2006, 5 p.m. central time zone. 

Please submit a 300 word abstract in PDF format to rls at rice.edu. The filename should be AUTHORSNAME.pdf. Please include ''poster session'' in the subject. The email body should include:

1. Name of author(s)
2. Paper title
3. Institution(s) of author(s)
4. Email address(es) of author(s)
5. Postal address(es) of author(s)
6. Phone number for primary author

Postal submissions will not be accepted.

-Poster Presentation-

Participants will be given a space approximately 6' by 4' to display their work.

Call for Papers 

The 18th North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics (NACCL-18) will
be held from Friday June 23 through Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Western
Washington University, Bellingham, Washington.

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks in all theoretical and applied
research areas of Chinese linguistics and Chinese acquisition. 

Requirements for Submission of Abstracts: 

Abstracts must be camera-ready, on a single page, single spaced, in
12-point type, with one inch margins. 

Mail five (5) copies of the abstract, one of which includes name(s) of
author(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail address(es); the other four (for
anonymous review) identified by title only. 

Please include a 3x5 card containing the paper title, name(s) of author(s),
affiliation, status (student or non-student), address, phone number, and
e-mail. 

To facilitate the reviewing process, identify on the card the primary area
of linguistics addressed in your paper (e.g., Phonetics/Phonology, Syntax,
Semantics, Functional/Pragmatics, Dialectology, Historical Phonology,
Historical Syntax, Computational/Corpus Linguistics, First Language
Acquisition Studies, Second Language Acquisition Studies,
Psycholinguistics, or Sociolinguistics). 

Deadline for receipt of abstracts is January 13, 2006.
