Description:

The Linguistics Department of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago is
seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2006. 
Candidates must possess a doctorate in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics by the
time of the appointment.  Qualified individuals will possess a strong background
in core linguistics, with the ability to effectively teach both undergraduate
and graduate courses.  Ideal candidates will also possess strength in TESL and
contact linguistics.

Northeastern Illinois University is a comprehensive state university of 12,000
commuter students located on a 67-acre campus in a residential neighborhood on
the northwest side of Chicago.  Along with quality academic programming
consistent with the University's mission of excellence and access, the
University is known for support of the fine arts, global education opportunities
for students, a strong track record in external grant funding, and leadership in
teacher preparation. Northeastern is nationally recognized as having the most
ethnically diverse student body in the Midwest. Northeastern offers an M.A. in
Linguistics, an M.A. in Linguistics: TESL Concentration, and an undergraduate
minor in Linguistics.
