Linguists working in the theoretical framework of Generative Grammar are invited to participate. 

Abstracts can be written in any Romance language or English. The language used in the abstracts and during the conference should be the same. Each paper presentation will be 30 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion. We will also accept a limited number of abstracts for two poster sessions. If the authors want to submit their works only as either paper presentations or posters, this should be stated clearly in their e-mail message to the organizers. Submissions are limited to one singly authored and one jointly authored abstract per author.

Abstracts cannot exceed one page of text, with 2.5 cm. margin on all four sides (measured on A4 paper). Font: Times New Roman, 12 point; SILDoulos IPA93 for the phonetic symbols. Line spacing: single. Abstracts may include an extra page for references and examples. Lay-out: First line: title of the paper (in bold). Second line: author's name and e-mail address. Third line: affiliation. Fourth line: blank.
Abstracts should be sent electronically only, as Word.doc or PDF attachments, to uam16cgg at gmail.com (PDF format is required if the abstract contains special fonts, such as phonetic symbols, or figures.) One copy of the abstract must be sent anonymously and another one with the author's name, e-mail address, and affiliation.

Meeting Description:

The Society for Caribbean Linguistics (SCL) will meet at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau, Dominica (or Wai'tukubuli) from 2—6 August 2006. The Conference theme is Caribbean Language Studies and Educational Development, and the Conference is dedicated to the memory of Douglas MacRae Taylor, linguist, anthropologist, and authority on Dominican Island Carib language and culture. 

Abstracts on all types of Caribbean languages, including indigenous Amerindian languages, creole languages, standard and non-standard varieties, and immigrant languages are invited. For Dominica 2006, abstracts on all aspects of Caribbean French Creole, Kokoy, and Arawakan languages, notably Dominican Island Carib and Central American Garífuna (Black Carib), are especially invited and strongly encouraged. 

Abstracts on any of the following pertinent areas in Caribbean language(s) and linguistics are invited: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicon, sociology of language and sociolinguistics, dialectology, language development or history, and language in education.

Papers are normally given in English or French, but may be submitted in any other Caribbean language - Spanish, Kwéyòl/Kreyol, Dutch, etc., once special arrangements are made with the Conference organisers.
