Dear Phoneticians,

Has anyone used the Edirol R-1 solid state recorder for phonetic work?  How
does it fare compared to the new Marantz PMD-670 and PMD-671?  Since the
Edirol is much smaller (and cheaper), I am wondering what the trade-off is.

Two practical questions not addressed on the edirol webpage:
1) Can you change the Compact Flash memory card?
2) How easy is it to change the recording settings?

I would appreciate if you could share any fieldwork experiences with these
recorders.  If you know of other similar models, I am also interested in
knowing about them.

I am looking for insights into the assumptions that underlie the
interpretation of lexical decision data in psycholinguistic studies. 

In particular, I would be interested in any past discussions of the stage
in lexical access that lexical decision data is thought to reflect.  

I am also interested in literature that discusses strategies that subjects
may use during lexical decision tasks, aspects of experimental design that
may lead subjects to adopt one strategy over another, and the implications
that these strategies have for the interpretation of the data.
