Description:

Applications are invited for a one-year visiting position in Linguistics from
September 2006 through May 2007. Appointment normally at the visiting assistant
professor level, though a more senior appointment is possible under special
circumstances.  Should have Ph.D. or dissertation completed by time of
appointment. The successful candidate will have strong teaching experience and
be broadly trained in general theoretical linguistics (specialization open).
Teaching load will consist of at least four courses for the year, at least one
of which will be an introductory course in general theoretical linguistics. The
remaining courses will depend on the candidate's specialization and interests,
but courses in phonetics, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistics will be
preferred. To apply, send cover letter, CV, graduate school records, one or more
samples of research, and 3 recommendations to the address below.  The search
committee will be conducting screening interviews at the Linguistics Society of
America's annual meeting in January 2006. As an AA/EOE employer, Williams
