The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:

Research and Development Positions in NLP and Text Processing

CACI's Document and Record Management Division is seeking applicants to
join its growing research and development staff. Vacancies at several
levels are available. The group conducts research and development projects
in NLP and text areas including named-entity extraction, matching and
merging of entities from free text and structured data, ontologies, and
document categorization and clustering. This work uses both English and
non-English content. Many of our projects involve work with noisy data,
e.g., OCR and ASR output.

Selected candidates will work on the full range of research and development
activities, including problem analysis, literature search, software and
database design, development of prototypes and production software,
experimentation, testing, tool/product evaluation and benchmarking,
reporting, and publishing. Senior level researchers will also supervise
others on projects.

Applicants should have some background in one or more areas of NLP or IR.
Applicants should have one or more degrees in linguistics, computer
science, mathematics, or a related field; they should have familiarity with
linear algebra, statistics and data graphing, and competence with
programming in C/C++, Java, or other high-level languages. Knowledge of
relational databases (SQL, PL/SQL) and sed, awk, Perl and similar tools is
helpful. Applicants should be able and willing to learn new programming
languages and tools.

The group is located in Lanham Maryland, close to Washington DC in the U.S.
CACI offers an attractive salary and benefits package with opportunities
for growth. The positions require US citizenship. A government security
clearance, or willingness to obtain one, is helpful. CACI is an Equal
Employment Opportunity Employer.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can
receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit
organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against
your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift
you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human
resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns
to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment
to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
