This conference will be held at the University of Auckland, NZ. 

Keynote speakers are Pat Keating, Professor of Linguistics, UCLA; Joseph Perkell, Senior Research Scientist, MIT; Michael Corballis, Professor of Psychology, University of Auckland. 

Submissions should describe original contributions to spoken language research, speech science and/or technology that will be of interest to an audience including scientists, engineers, linguists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, audiologists and other professionals. 

Submissions for oral and poster presentations are invited in all areas of speech science and technology, but particularly:

The 20th century has been described as the 'century of translation' as well as the 'century of technical translation'.

What will the 21st century reveal in the worlds of translation and interpreting? To coincide with the Institute's 21st birthday, ITI will be holding an International Conference in London between the 21st and 22nd April 2007.

The 20th century has been described as the 'century of translation' as well as the 'century of technical translation'.

What will the 21st century reveal in the worlds of translation and interpreting? To coincide with the Institute's 21st birthday, ITI will be holding an International Conference in London between the 21st and 22nd April 2007. If you would like to submit a paper or propose a suitable topic for a poster session or conference workshop, we would like to hear from you.

Some themes you might consider are:

future developments in the industry; changes and improvements in professional training and practice; the challenges posed by the wider world; new technologies on the horizon; t/i at the heart of global business, of industry and science; communications technology and the rôle of language and translation.

There will also be scope for a brief consideration of the history of our industry and of the work of the Institute.

The Conference will be held in the prestigious Rembrandt Hotel in the heart of London.

We welcome contributions from ITI members and non-members.

Favourable consideration will be given to responses received before 15th June 2006
