We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

I am currently investigating suitable microphone types for field recording
of 3/4 year olds for acoustic analysis. Based on the previous studies
I've reviewed so far, I haven't found a consensus as to the suitability of
fixed omnidirectional microphones or radio lapel microphones, so am looking
for suggestions from phoneticians with prior experience recording children.

Thanks very much in advance. I'll post a summary of the results.

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can see a list of the most
spoken languages in Columbia. I'm curious to see how many speakers of Paez
there are and how that compares to the numbers of speakers of other
languages. I've already spent a long time on Google trying to find such a
list, but although I found many lists detailing what languages are spoken,
I have yet to find any itemized list of languages organized by the amount
of speakers.

I sure would appreciate any help!

Thanks-
