Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, CANADA, invites applications for
the administrative position of Director of the School of English for an
initial five-year period beginning 1 January 2007.  Queen's is located in
the historic City of Kingston, midway between Montreal and Toronto and a
pleasant drive from the nation's capital of Ottawa.  It is one of Canada's
most prestigious universities with high academic and admission standards.

The School of English houses the University's intensive English language
program specializing in English for Academic Purposes.  In addition, the
School offers tailored programs to a variety of international groups, and
one of the major responsibilities of the position is to develop further
linkages and contracts.  The School also offers Business Communication and
a number of other part-time courses.  Other responsibilities include
overall program development and management including student recruitment,
national and international representation of the program, and
administration of the unit's budget, policies, curriculum and human relations.

As the successful candidate, you must have significant teaching experience
in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, along with a graduate
degree in a subject relevant to the teaching of EAP, adult education,
applied linguistics or a foreign language.  You must also have the
following: an innovative spirit to help position the School within the
goals and strategic plans of the University and Faculty, demonstrated
commitment to English language education and cross-cultural educational
issues, extensive experience within a higher education setting including
budgeting, planning and personnel management, experience in
revenue-generating program development, demonstrated entrepreneurial
experience, especially with respect to recruitment and marketing, and
working knowledge of a second language.  Experience working or living in a
cross-cultural setting and direct experience in international education
and/or with international students will be considered assets.  You will
have excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and motivational
skills with the ability to inspire trust and develop and maintain a
collegial working and learning environment.  Extensive travel and
non-traditional working hours will be expected. You will have the
