Second international conference of the
German Cognitive Linguistics Association
Munich, 5-7 October 2006
The second international conference of the German Cognitive Linguistics
Association will take place in Munich, from 5 to 7 October 2006. It is organized
by the recently founded Interdisciplinary Centre for Cognitive Language Studies
(ICCLS) at
Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich.
The aim of the conference is to promote interest in Cognitive Linguistics in
Germany and abroad and to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of
current research.
Topics
The aim of the conference is to promote interest in Cognitive Linguistics in
Germany and abroad and to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of
current research.
We invite abstracts addressing any issue from the field of cognitive
linguistics. This includes but is not limited to the following topics:
-Categorization including prototype theory and conceptual hierarchies
-Figurative language including the theory of conceptual metaphor and metonymy
-Frame semantics, scenarios, scripts, cognitive and cultural models
-Conceptual-blending theory
-Cognitive Grammar
-Construction Grammar
-Motivation, iconicity, conventionality
-Conceptual salience and entrenchment
-Cognitive language typology
-Cognitive-linguistic approaches to discourse
-Cognitive-linguistic approaches to word-formation
-Cognitive-linguistic approaches to literature
-Holistic and modular approaches to language and cognition
Submission conditions
The length of the presentations will be 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute
discussion.
Abstracts of papers (max. 500 words on one page) should be sent exclusively as
email attachments (.doc-files or .rtf-files) to the following address:
DGKL-konferenz at anglistik.uni-muenchen.de. The deadline for reception is 1 May
2006. Participants will be notified of the acceptance of their papers by 1 July
2006.
The conference languages are German and English.

Die zweite internationale Konferenz der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kognitive
Linguistik findet vom 5. - 7. Oktober in München statt. Die Organisation
übernimmt das kürzlich an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität gegründete
Interdisziplinäre Zentrum für kognitive Sprachforschung/Interdisciplinary Centre
for Cognitive Language Studies (ICCLS).

Die Konferenz soll das Interesse an der kognitiven Linguistik fördern und dient

Meeting Description:
Formal Semantics in Moscow is a student-run annual workshop. The main aim of the
workshop is to provide an opportunity for students and young researchers to
present their work (possibly in progress) in the field of formal semantics and
to get feedback from their colleagues.
FORMAL SEMANTICS IN MOSCOW 2 - DEADLINE EXTENSION.
Due to several requests, the FSIM-2 deadline is extended. The extended deadline
is February 20th.
We invite submissions of abstracts for 20 minute presentations (plus 10 minute
discussion) on any topic pertaining to formal semantics. The workshop is
intended mainly for students and young researchers, and presentations of work in
progress are welcome. Papers linking Western and East European semantic
traditions are especially welcome. Languages of the workshop are English and
Russian.
If you are not a student or a young researcher, it does not mean that you cannot
submit a paper, just bear in mind that most talks will be made by
(under)graduate students and young researchers.
The workshop will be held on Saturday April 15, probably, at Moscow State
University.
Invited speaker: Elena Viktorovna Paduceva (VINITI RAN)
Abstracts should be anonymous and should not exceed 2 pages, including examples
and references, with one-inch limits on each side and typed in at least 11-point
font. Authors may be involved in at most two abstracts and may be the sole
author of at most one submission. We accept only electronic submissions. The
preferable format is pdf, but Word and txt abstracts will be accepted too. If
you use Word, please save the abstract as an rtf file. Abstracts should be sent
to fsim2.submissions at gmail.com.
Please write your name and the word 'abstract' in the subject field of your
e-mail, and include your name, affiliation, contact information, and the title
of the submission in the body of the message. The deadline for the receipt of
abstracts is February 20. Authors will be notified of the review results late
February or early March.
WARNING: Unfortunately, getting a Russian visa for a business trip is not easy.
We will be able to send you an official invitation, but it takes several weeks
to make it, and it is not very easy to get a visa with this kind of invitation
from the university. If you would like to participate in the workshop, please
consider getting a tourist visa - it is much easier to get.
Limited crash space is available upon request.
