Linguistics is vacant. The Chair forms part of the Faculty of the Centre
for Languages and Literature (http://www.sol.lu.se).

The holder of the English Language and Linguistics Chair in Lund will
perform the following professional duties: own research; supervision of
doctoral students and students at the advanced (Master) level, as well as
of students at the senior level in the undergraduate programme; and
teaching on the graduate programme (doctoral and Master-level students) and
to some extent within the framework of undergraduate courses.
Administrative duties may form part of the new Professor's employment. He
or she will be expected to exercise academic leadership within the
discipline, as well as represent that discipline nationally and
internationally. These functions include the maintenance of comprehensive
scholarly-scientific contacts and the development of collaboration with
other seats of higher learning and institutions/departments, in Sweden and
elsewhere. The Professor is also expected to initiate and run externally
funded research projects.

Required qualifications: The person qualified to hold the advertised
position will have demonstrated both scholarly and pedagogical ability.

The relevant basis for assessment includes the extent to which the
respective applicant is seen to possess such scholarly-scientific,
pedagogical, administrative, and other abilities as are of significance
with regard to the content of the post and the duties associated with it.
The degree to which the applicant is capable of developing, leading,
implementing, and evaluating tuition and research will also come in for
attention during the appointments procedure, as will his/her ability to
co-operate with the society surrounding the University and to communicate
information on research, higher education, and development work. 

During the assessment procedure, special importance will be attached to
scholarly-scientific and pedagogical ability. Equal weight will be given to
scholarly-scientific and pedagogical skills.

Lund University has adopted a scheme of individual salary setting. An
