Description:

There are two positions available for 4 month visits of 'more experienced'
researchers (10 or more years of research experience at the postgraduate level;
see below for full definition) as a result of an award of an EU 6th Framework Marie 
Curie (MC) Transfer of Knowledge Grant ('DEAWU') to the Computational
Linguistics group at the University of Potsdam.

The DEAWU ('dealing with uncertainty') project (two full-time Post-Docs) is
working on methods for improving the treatment of understanding problems in
spoken dialogue systems. The visiting researchers would be expected to have
extensive experience in the field of computational dialogue research (e.g., spoken
dialogue systems; pragmatics of dialogue; symbolic or statistical approaches to
dialogue), and will help shape the research done in the group, provide feedback
and guide evaluation and further developements. They will also be expected to
teach a short seminar at the host institution. 

The positions are for 4 months each, with exact dates being flexible (sometime
between January 2006 and December 2007; shorter or longer durations may also be
possible). The fellowship is remunerated in the form of a generous stipend, 
with additional 'monthly mobility allowance' and other travel costs being covered.

Formal Conditions:
- A 'more experienced researcher' as defined by the EU MC programme is a
researchers who has 10 or more years of research experience at postgraduate
level, i.e. after the first university degree. (Not necessarily 10 years of post
doc experience!)

- Unlike earlier MC schemes, candidates from outside the EU may be employed;
however a case will have to be made in such an eventuality for the outstanding
nature of the applicant.

- No age limit; eligibility based on experience. 

- German candidates must have been active outside the EU and or Associated
States for at least 5 years.

- Candidates already based in Germany must have only spent 12 out of the last 36
months in the country.  

- Third country nationals who are already active within the EU and Associated
States may apply provided that they have legally resided for four of the last
five years in the EU/AS.
