Meeting Description:

Summer school and conference on the 'method of lexical exceptions'

The 'method of lexical exceptions' is a method of research in theoretical linguistics which has been developed by Dr Christopher Beedham at the University of St Andrews, Scotland (see his book, Language and Meaning, Benjamins 2005). The Summer School will be taught by Dr Beedham, and will be held in the mornings. The Conference will take place in the afternoons, and is there primarily for participants in the Summer School; however, you may give a paper at or attend the Conference even if you do not participate in the Summer School. So far the method has been used on the passive and irregular verbs in English, German, and Russian, but the purpose of the Summer School and Conference is to enable participants to go on to use the method themselves on other areas of grammar in their own languages.
