Description:

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities seeks outstanding candidates for an
Assistant Professor position for the 2006-07 academic year in the
Linguistics Program, which is located in the College of Liberal Arts.  This
temporary appointment (T) will be 100% for the nine-month period of August
28, 2006 through May 27, 2007 with a salary that is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.  The person should have a specialization in
syntactic theory and will be expected to teach five courses that will
include Syntax I (Ling 5201), Syntax II (Ling 5202), and one section of
Introduction to Linguistics.  Additional courses will be assigned depending
upon that individual's other areas of specialization.   Other
responsibilities include engaging in program research and providing service
to the Program, College, and University.  

Qualifications include a preference for a PhD in Linguistics by date of
appointment, but candidates who are ABD may be considered as an Instructor.
 Candidates must have at least one year of experience teaching linguistics
courses.  Experience teaching syntax is preferred.  Candidates will be
expected to provide evidence of excellence in teaching and research.  We
will consider applications from visiting faculty from other institutions.
