2006 Summer International Conference on Generative Grammar will be held at
Sookmyung Women's University, Seoul, Korea, on August 9-12, 2006 organized by
the Korean Generative Grammar Circle. 

Abstracts for the conference are invited from all areas of generative grammar.
Topics of the abstracts may include syntactic theory, syntax-semantics
interface, syntax-morphology interface, syntax-phonology interface, syntactic
acquisition, and others. The conference will consist of the general session, the
poster session, and a series of lectures from the invited speakers. The idea of
the poster session is to discuss the work-in-progress that has not completely
matured for a full publication yet.  

Abstracts should be anonymous and may not exceed 2 pages (A4), including
examples and references, with 2.54 cm (1 inch) margin on all four sides and
should employ the font Times New Roman 12 pt. Submissions are limited to a
maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author. Please send a
separate file containing the following information: the title of the paper, the
author's name, affiliation, e-mail address, telephone number, and the preferred
session (general or poster). Abstracts should be sent ELECTRONICALLY as Word or
PDF attachments to Sun-Woong Kim at swkim at kw.ac.kr no later than April 10, 2006.

Abstracts will be reviewed by readers, and authors will be notified by April 30,
2006. Each speaker of the general session will be allotted 20 minutes with 10
minutes for discussion. Accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of
2006 Seoul International conference on Generative Grammar, which will be
distributed to the conference participants. All presenters will be asked to
provide camera-ready copies of their papers in publishable form by July 10,
2006. The text should be single-spaced and the general page limit is 20 pages
including appendices and references.

Meeting Description:

The 26th International Conference of the Poetics and Linguistics Association
(PALA) is to be held in Joensuu, Finland. Situated amongst the beautiful lakes
district of Eastern Finland, Joensuu (which means mouth of the river) is the
regional capital of the province of North Karelia, which shares its border with
Russia. We offer exceptional facilities amongst pristine natural surroundings. 

There has been much debate in recent years within the broad domain of stylistics
about how to define this field of investigation. This same debate most recently
arose at our last gathering in Huddersfield (July 2005). How has stylistics
evolved since the early 1970s? How do we define ''stylistics'' today? What are
its aims? How do we go about meeting these aims? Can we realistically reach a
consensus? How viable is stylistics in the 21st century? What could be its main
contributions? To what extent is stylistics an interdisciplinary venture? The
purpose of this conference is to reflect upon these broad questions: to consider
what state the state of stylistics is in.

We invite you to submit papers that reflect upon the wide range of methodologies
and outlooks that have evolved within this field during the latter half of the
20th century whilst considering how they reflect upon the core purpose of
stylistic investigation and indeed just what this core might be. It would also
be interesting to discuss what impact stylistics might have in future years to come.
