The conference specifically focuses on the various aspects and current 
issues of language , linguistics and literature and a session on the 
contributions of Shaikh Ayaz towards language, literature and society.

Sindh, a historical province of Pakistan, home of one of the oldest 
civilizations in the world, accommodates one third of the over all population 
of the country. Sindh has always been a centre of economic, political and 
literary activities.

University of Sindh, the second oldest University in the country, established 
in 1947 has been playing a very important role in imparting formal 
education 
and enlightening the world. The Faculty of Arts, the very first faculty of the 
University of Sindh, was established in 1951. Since its emergence, the 
Faculty of Arts has been an integral part of academic and social activities 
of 
the University of Sindh.

University of Sindh has hosted a number of National and International 
Conferences, Seminars and Workshops in various fields of Arts and 
Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Education.

The University campus has always offered an environment free of gender 
disparity, ethnic divide and sectarian bigotry.

Shaikh Ayaz Conference on Language and Literature is going to provide a 
chance to academics and scholars of Language and Literature to sit 
together 
and share their views and knowledge with one another. Besides, the 
conference will also shed light on the contributions of Shaikh Ayaz, a 
legend 
poet of world repute.

The Conference themes are as follows:
1.	Language and Linguistics (any related aspect)
2.	Literature (any related aspect)
3.	Contributions of Shaikh Ayaz towards language, literature and  
        society

The last date of submission of the abstract/proposal of paper or full paper 
is 
Nov. 30, 2006. The abstract/proposal must not exceed of 250 words. The 
final approval or otherwise of the received abstracts/proposals/full papers 
will be announced on or before  25th Nov. 2006.

Official languages of the Conference are English, Sindhi and Urdu. 
However, 
the scholars will be allowed to present their papers in any other language 
spoken in the country. All the abstracts/proposals are, any how, to be 
submitted in English.

Each presenter will be given 20 minutes for paper reading and 10 minutes 
for 
question-answer session.

The Conference Registration fees are as under:
Local Scholars		Rs. 1000/=
Foreign Scholars	$.    100/=
Students		Rs. 100/=

Pay order in the name of Shaikh Ayaz  Conference on Language and 
Literature.

Scholars are invited to participate in the Conference by presenting a paper 
on any of the themes mentioned above. If due to any reason any one is 
unable to present a paper, he can still participate as an observer/delegate 
by 
paying the registration fee before 1st Dec. 2006.
