We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Are there any published evaluations/rankings of North American programs in
specifically Hispanic Linguistics? My searches for this have produced only
the standard NRC rankings as follows:

1) the NRC's 1994-1995 rankings for Spanish Language and Literature - which
evaluate overall Spanish PhD programs (presumably including the Hispanic
linguistics component)

http://www.nap.edu/dataset/pub/research_doctorate_programs_in_the_united_states/appendix_p/sthsll.xls

2) the NRC's 1994-1995 rankings for General Linguistics - which evaluate
Linguistics PhD programs (where Hispanic linguistics PhD students
could/would presumably do a portion of their linguistic graduate training)

http://www.nap.edu/dataset/pub/research_doctorate_programs_in_the_united_states/appendix_p/sthlin.xls

(New NRC information appears to be scheduled for publication in 2007.)

Inquiries with my immediate colleagues in the field have not turned up
anything further, so I am hoping that someone on the list will be able to
point me to some data.

Thank you.
