In recent years, the fields of linguistics, musicology, experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and evolutionary anthropology have witnessed an increased interest in the comparative study of music and language as cognitive systems. This conference aims to bring together major contributors from these areas of research in order to assess the progress made, and future directions to take, in this truly interdisciplinary enterprise, and to provide researchers and graduate students from diverse backgrounds with a unique forum for discussion.
Call for Papers
The period for Abstract Submission for both paper and poster presentations is August 15, 2006 to November 17, 2006. For more information on how to submit an abstract, please download the Submission Guidelines from our website. Notification e-mails will be sent out on January 15, 2007.

Call for Papers
Proposals are invited for the above workshop which will focus on the structure of oral discourse, with particular emphasis on temporal structures in French, notably tense, aspect, adverbs and adverbial phrases, connectors, subordination and coordination. More generally, topics related to the structure/coherence of oral narrations are welcome. The conference will comprise a special session on oral fictions, i.e., storytelling, interspersing talks with performances by French storytellers.
Papers are welcome on different types of oral narration and from a variety of theoretical perspectives. Please send an anonymous proposal of no more than 3000 words (and no less than 800) to oralnarration at linguist.jussieu.fr by 15. October 2006, indicating the paper's title and the author's name and affiliation in the body of the message. Submitted abstracts should be attached as pdf or rtf/Word files.
Each accepted speaker will be alloted a 40 minutes slot during the conference, with 30 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. The languages of the conference are French and English. A selected number of papers will appear in a volume to be published by Rodopi, in the ''Cahiers Chronos'' series.

Appel à Communications
Le colloque ''La Narration orale. Temporalité et Structuration du discourse'' se donne pour but d'étudier la structure du discours oral, et plus particulièrement la structure temporelle des narrations orales en français (temps, aspect, adverbes adverbiaux, connecteurs discursifs, subordination/coordination?). Les communications consacrées à la structure/cohérence des narrations orales en général sont les bienvenues. Une session spéciale sera consacrée aux fictions orales, i.e., au conte. Les communications de cette session alterneront avec des performances de conteurs français.
Les propositions de communication envoyées au comité scientifique pourront couvrir de multiples genres de narrations orales (contes, récits de vie, médias?), et s'inscrire dans des cadres théoriques variés. La longueur des proposition (anonymes) de communication ne devra pas excéder 3000 mots, mais ne pourra être inférieure à 800 mots.
Ces propositions devront être envoyées par courier électronique à oralnarration at linguist.jussieu.fr, avant le 15 octobre 2006 ; le titre de l'article, le nom et l'affiliation de l'auteur devront être donnés séparément dans le corps du message. Les résumés de communication soumis devront être attachés sous forme de fichiers pdf ou rtf/Word.
Les communications acceptées auront une durée de 30 minutes, suivies de 10 minutes de discussion. Les langues de la conférence sont le français et l'anglais. Un volume d'actes publié par Rodopi regroupera les meilleures communications présentées, dans la collection ''Cahiers Chronos''.
