Description:

The Department of English, Communication and Journalism at Coastal Carolina
University, invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant
Professor of English.  The department seeks a sociolinguist with a record
of excellent teaching, a demonstrated potential for conducting research in
speech communities, and experience in grant writing to facilitate such
research.  Teaching assignments may include off-campus and distance
learning courses.  The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in
Linguistics, a record that suggests scholarly promise, and a demonstrated
interest in institutional service. The successful candidate will also have
training and teaching experience in at least one of the following areas: 
first-year composition, business or professional communication,
technical/professional writing, or literature.

Coastal Carolina University is a growing, state-supported liberal arts
institution where emphasis is on undergraduate education, and growing
importance is placed on faculty mentored student research projects and
public service.  Coastal Carolina University is located approximately nine
miles from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and enrolls more than 7,600 students.
