Description:

Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Arabic 
beginning in July 2007.  The successful candidate should have Ph.D. or dissertation completed by 
the time of appointment and native or near-native proficiency in Arabic.  The position requires a 
commitment to and experience in Arabic language teaching, as well as teaching courses in a 
complementary field, such as linguistics, literature, or cultural studies.  The candidate should 
have an interest in expanding a burgeoning Arabic program.  The teaching load will be four 
semester courses each year, two of which will be language courses.  Salary and benefits are 
competitive.  A senior appointment will be considered under exceptional circumstances.  

Review of applications will begin Wednesday, November 1, 2006 and end when the position has 
been filled.

attending the Middle Eastern Studies Association or the Modern Language Association meetings 
who are interested in interviewing at either of these meetings should make their availability 
known in their cover letter.
