The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC), National University of Singapore invites colleagues from all over the world to participate in an international symposium for English language teachers. This symposium will combine classroom-based research paper presentations with small group discussions to give presenters and participants an enriching professional development experience.

The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC), National University of Singapore invites colleagues from all over the world to participate in an international symposium on English language teaching, learning and research. The theme of the symposium is ''The English Language Teaching and Learning Landscape: Continuity, Innovation and Diversity.'' We invite papers on a diverse range of areas such as the use of technology in ELT, Intercultural communication, critical and creative thinking, teaching methodology, material design, learner autonomy, English for specific purposes, and language policies. The deadline for the abstract submission is 6 October 2006. The symposium will be held on 30 May - 1 June, 2006 in Hilton Hotel, Orchard Road, which is situated in the heart of Singapore.

We invite abstracts for 20-minute talks with a 10-minute discussion on any
aspect of theoretical linguistics. 

Invited Speakers: 

   Adam Albright (MIT) 
   Lyn Frazier (UMass Amherst) 
   Manfred Krifke (Humboldt University) 

Instructions for Abstract Submission:

Abstracts must be at most one page long on a letter-size or A4 sheet with
one-inch margins and typed in at least 12-point font. An optional second
page is permitted for data and references. Abstracts must be anonymous.
Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per
author, or two joint abstracts per author. The abstract must be submitted
as a PDF attachment. Instructions for electronic submission can be found at:

The deadline for submission is December 15, 2006. We hope to be able to
announce acceptances by late January.
