Description:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of French, with specialization in French Linguistics
(tenure-track), pending budgetary approval.  Specialty area is open,
although we are looking for candidates with competence in both synchronic
and diachronic linguistics. Preference will be given to those whose work is
interdisciplinary (examples might include but are not limited to the
intersection of language and literature, or, more generally, language and
culture).  Teaching assignments will include introductory and advanced
undergraduate courses as well as graduate seminars (History of the French
Language and other specialized topics).  Candidates should possess PhD or
equivalent by time of appointment, and have outstanding research and
teaching potential;  native or near-native command of French required. 
Appointment to be effective July 1, 2007.
