The 16th Nordic Conference of Computational Linguistics (NODALIDA 2007) is held
in Tartu, Estonia, 25-26 May 2007, preceded by one day of workshops.

The 16th Nordic Conference of Computational Linguistics

First Call for Workshop Proposals

The Program Committee of the 16th Nordic Conference of Computational Linguistics
(NODALIDA 2007) invites proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with 
the conference in Tartu, Estonia. We solicit proposals on any topic of relevance
for language technology, including both text and speech processing. The workshops 
will be held on Thursday 24 May, the day before the main conference.

Submission Details:

Proposals should be submitted in plain text to nodalida2007 at ut.ee. The subject
line should be NODALIDA 2007 Workshop Proposal. There is no special form, but
the proposal should contain information about the following aspects of the 
proposed workshop:

Title: Title of the workshop.
Organizers: Name, affiliation, e-mail address and brief biographical information
about the workshop organizers.
Topic/Purpose: What is the main topic of the workshop? What purpose is it going
to achieve? 
Organization: How is the workshop going to be organized? Will there be an open
call for papers or other contributions?
Target groups: Who are the expected workshop participants?

Meeting Description:

This year's meeting addresses the relation between language and aging from the
multidisciplinary perspectives of applied linguistics and anthropology. The
conference is a small-scale meeting (20-25 individuals) emphasizing the close
critique of works in progress. The workshop includes a mentoring component for
graduate students. 

The 6th Annual Conference of the Association for Anthropology and Gerontology
will be held at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, from
March 16-18, 2007. This year's theme addresses the relation between language and
aging from the multidisciplinary perspectives of anthropology and applied
linguistics. The keynote speaker for the workshop is Dr. Howard Giles from the
University of California - Santa Barbara. The conference is a small-scale
meeting (20-25 individuals) emphasizing the close critique of works in progress.
The workshop includes a mentoring component for graduate students, who are
paired with senior researchers who offer technical assistance concerning
research projects in proposal stage. Papers from the conference will be
considered for publication either individually or as a special issue of the
Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology. Those who wish to present a paper are
invited to submit a one-page abstract as an e-mail attachment by December 1,
2006, to: Robert W. Schrauf, Ph.D., Pennsylvania State University,
