Members of this list may be interested in an online course in Egyptian
hieroglyphs that is open for enrollment. This course provides learners from
all over the world with a complete introduction to Middle Egyptian grammar,
giving them the skills needed to comprehend and translate literary,
religious, historical and documentary texts in the language. The full
course is divided into three units that cover the same material as a
first-year university course and uses James Allen's Middle Egyptian Grammar
as a textbook. Students are able to type in hieroglyphs and Egyptian
transliteration within the course without having to purchase any extra
software.

Students can enroll at any time and will be allowed up to six months to
complete each unit at their own pace, with time extensions available for a
small fee. They will gain access to a virtual classroom where they will
have the guidance of an Egyptologist who has a Ph.D. in Egyptology from the
University of Chicago and be able to interact with other students.

For those with an interested in African languages, extinct languages,
Semitic languages or writing systems, ancient Egyptian is an ideal language
for comparison Very few universities offer courses in the language and this
course is aimed at bringing the study to students who have no convenient
way to study the language.

While the course itself does not offer university credit, some students who
are enrolled in the course have gotten credit for the course through their
own universities as independent study. Glyphdoctors can provide
documentation of a student's work and a grade if required.

Please feel free to share this announcement with your students who may be
interested in enrolling.

More information about the course and enrolling is available here:
