Description:

The Language Studies Department of the United States Naval Academy invites
applications for up to a three-year, renewable faculty appointment for an
expert in Assessment, to begin August 2007.  The candidate should be a
specialist in applied linguistics or second language acquisition, with
expertise in program assessment, quantitative methods, and research design
and methodology. The candidate must be familiar with ACTFL National
Standards and their application. 

The incumbent's chief responsibility will be to design and execute
department-wide assessment of all programs, including study abroad. He or
she will work with the Department Chair and the Faulty and will serve as
Department liaison and spokesperson with the USNA administration on matters
concerning assessment. The incumbent with be responsible for teaching 1
course per semester in one of the foreign languages offered at USNA. The
Language Studies department at the Naval Academy offers seven languages:
Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish, and employs
twenty-four full-time faculty members.
