I am working on the effect, surface characteristics of discourse, like bold
or underlined typesetting, have on the text's coherence. Is, e.g. a bold
expression more likely to be referred to in the next utterance? And is it
therefore comparable with stressed expressions in spoken language? 

My question is whether anyone on the List knows linguistic research that
deals with this problem. Many thanks!
