Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Oakland University invites applications
for a tenure track assistant professor of linguistics, beginning August 1,
2008. Candidates should have a research and teaching interest in phonetics
and phonology; strong preference will be given to candidates whose research
and teaching interests include second language acquisition and ESL.

The minimum requirement is a PhD in Linguistics, awarded by August 1, 2008.
The position requires a strong background in formal linguistics and a
commitment to research and teaching. The appointee will be expected to
teach courses in the core area of linguistics and in general education, as
well as participate in the ongoing development of the Department's
undergraduate and graduate programs.

curriculum vitae, samples of work, a list of courses they have taken as
graduate students, as well as a list of courses they would like to teach,
and three letters of reference to Dr. Sam Rosenthall, Chair, at the address
given below.

Preliminary interviews with members of the search committee will be held at
the LSA meeting in Chicago, January 5-8, 2008. Candidates who plan to
attend the LSA meeting should notify the search committee at the above
email address and submit their completed applications by December 16, 2007,
so that interviews can be arranged. Those unable to attend are still
encouraged to apply. All applications must be received by January 15, 2008
to receive full consideration.
