Methods in Speech & Language Disorders

A Wiley Book Series, Edited by
Martin J. Ball (University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA)

Vesna Stojanovik (University of Reading, England-U.K.)

The aim of this series is to provide accessible and relevant texts to
students of speech and language disorders, and to speech-language
pathologists and therapists. The volumes aim to cover a wide variety of
topics relevant for such an audience, and to introduce these topics in a
practical way to enable student practitioners and qualified clinicians to
undertake a range of analysis and treatment procedures. A minimum of
background knowledge is assumed for each text, but the books also aim to
point readers in the direction of further, more advanced, research.

We intend to cover aspects of clinical linguistics and phonetics as
applied to the assessment of speech and language disorders, and aspects of
therapeutics suitable for the treatment of the wide range of communication
disorders encountered in the clinic. Each volume will be authored by
leading authorities in the field, who have a grasp of both the theoretical
issues and the practical requirements of the area and, further, are at the
forefront of current research and practice.

This series, then, will acts as a bridge between scientific developments
in the study of speech and language disorders, and the application of these
to clinical  assessment and intervention. It is hoped that the texts will
stimulate the reader's interest in the topic as well as providing hands-on
advice. In this way we can promote well-informed and competent clinicians.
