The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:

The Faculty of Modern Languages of the University of Tuebingen, Germany
invites applications for a (tenured) professorship in General and
Theoretical Linguistics from 01.07.07. The salary is on the W3 point on
the German academic pay scale.

Candidates are expected to teach courses in all sub-areas of general and
theoretical linguistics. A research specialization in theoretical
linguistics is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for
BA and MA courses in General Linguistics, and for courses in General
Linguistics as a subsidiary subject for students of other courses, such as
the BA International Studies in Computational Linguistics, which is taught
in English.

The candidate will also be expected to take an active and responsible part
in the initiatives of the institute to continue its research effort with
external funding, and to represent General Linguistics in interdisciplinary
cooperation.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. and a 'Habilitation' (post-doctoral thesis)
or equivalent in terms of publications. The University of Tuebingen strives
to attain gender equality in academic posts and therefore particularly
encourages female academics to apply.

If the successful candidate has not previously held a professional position
at the rank of professor, the initial contract will be for a fixed period.
A subsequent tenured appointment is contingent on a successful performance
evaluation. Permanent appointments without tenure evaluation are possible,
particularly for applicants from abroad or for applicants holding
positions outside of academia.

Applications from disabled persons will be given preference over other
applicants with the same qualifications and abilities.

Applications should include a CV, copies of degree certificates, and lists
of publications, university level courses taught, and external funding
obtained.
