At the 20th Annual Conference and Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the
Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN) held at Abuja, Emeritus Professor
Ayo Bamgbose was crowned The Father of Modern Nigerian Linguistics. As a
follow-up to this award, it was decided at the 20th Annual General Meeting
of LAN that the 20th CLAN and the proceeds therefrom be dedicated to
Emeritus Professor Ayo Bamgbose.

In order to enrich the collection, the Executive Council of LAN has decided
to call for additional papers just to give some of Emeritus Professor
Bamgbose's associates, colleagues and students who did not present papers
at the 20th CLAN a rare privilege to be part of this epoch-making volume.

The theme of the proposed book is: "Nigerian Languages, Literatures,
Cultures, and Policy Reform".

Interested participants in this book project should send me their
contributions electronically. Individuals who presented papers during the
20th CLAN need not worry to submit another paper, unless they have
something personal to say about Emeritus Professor Bamgbose.

The deadline for the submission of papers is 30 March 2007.

We wish you well, while we prepare to meet you at the University of Uyo in
November 2007 for the 21st CLAN which the 20th AGM has already dedicated to
Professor Conrade Brann.

Send your contributions to:
