Description:
Japanese Language Consultant / Linguist

VoiceSignal Technologies, a Boston-area developer of speech recognition and
text-to-speech software for cell phones, is seeking a native Japanese speaker
with a background in translation or linguistics. The job involves working with
our linguists and product management staff to localize our software for the
Japanese cell phone market.

Applicants should be familiar with the particulars of Standard (Tokyo) Japanese
and should be able to transcribe ordinary Japanese words and names as well as
phrases for pitch accent. Applicants should also have command of written and
spoken English. Previous experience working in the software localization field
is highly desirable.

Work arrangements are flexible. While some work must be done on-site, some can
be done from home. Candidates should be able to work 2-3 days per week in our
Woburn, MA office (15 minutes north of Boston).

Approximate time frame of project: 4-6 months, 20-30 hours/week, starting in
January 2007.
