Description:
The Academic Technology Services Programmer supports the mission of Amherst
College by providing programming support for educational and research projects,
which includes planning, technical implementation, and management of software
development projects. Qualifications: Bachelor's, Master's preferred, and 3-5
years of professional experience as a programmer. In lieu of degrees, 7-10 years
of equivalent experience. Other requirements of the position include knowledge
of LAMP environments; web application servers, such as Apache; one or more
high-level programming languages, such as C++ and Java; current scripting
languages/protocols, including Perl, PHP, XML, Ajax; and, database standards and
applications, such as ODBC, DBI, and MySQL. Experience with Internet 2, natural
language processing, data mining, or machine learning techniques an asset.  Job
