Meeting Description

UnderLings, the Cornell University undergraduate linguistics association,
presents its first annual undergraduate research colloquium. The goal of the
conference is to promote undergraduate research at all levels by facilitating
communication and discussion between researchers.

The Cornell University Undergraduate Linguistics Association, UnderLings, posted
a call for papers/conference announcement over the winter break soliciting
abstracts for its first Annual Undergraduate Research Colloquium to be held in
Ithaca, NY, March 10-11. Since that time, we have received several emails from
interested undergraduates who were not informed of this conference until they
returned from winter break, and all of who requested more time to finish their
abstracts. Since it is not the intention of UnderLings to prohibit qualified
abstracts due to this matter, we have extended the deadline for submissions to 8
Feb 2007. This is one week from the original deadline. Colleagues on this list
are especially invited to forward this message to undergraduates they may be
working with in order to facilitate the greatest number of submissions for the
conference. The original text of the call for papers follows below:

For the 1st annual Cornell Undergraduate Linguistics Colloquium
Cornell University, Ithaca, New York
March 10-11, 2007

UnderLings, the Cornell University undergraduate linguistics association,
requests submissions for the first annual Cornell Undergraduate Linguistics
Colloquium. Submissions from interested undergraduate students of linguistics
are encouraged in a variety of subfields of linguistics, including but not
limited to phonetics, phonology, syntax, historical linguistics and
sociolinguistics. There is a high probability that the conference proceedings
will be published afterward, most likely in an online, widely-accessible format.

Applicants are invited to submit one-page abstracts proposing talks of not more
than twenty minutes. All participants must be pursuing a B.A., B.S., or
equivalent degree.
