Second Call for Papers

The English Department at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade,
is pleased to announce an international conference entitled 
English Language and Literature Studies:
Structures Across Cultures (ELLSSAC). The aim of the conference is to bring
together researchers who investigate various aspects of English language
and literature in comparison and contrast to other languages and literatures. 

Papers in the following fields are invited:
Theoretical Linguistics
Applied Linguistics
Literary Studies
Cultural Studies

The list of guest speakers includes

Kasia Jaszczolt, Department of Linguistics, University of Cambridge, UK
Zoltan Kövecses, Etvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary
Raphael Salkie, School of Languages, University of Brighton, UK

The official language of the conference is English.

Each paper will be allotted 30 minutes (20 minutes for presentation and 10
minutes for discussion).

A selection of papers will be published after the conference.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

An abstract of up to 300 words should contain the following information: 

(1) Title of the paper
(2) Name of the author(s)
(3) Affiliation of the author(s)
(4) E-mail address
(5) Postal address
(6) Contact phone number

Submissions should be sent by e-mail (as Word attachments) to:

Conference Fee

The conference fee is 80 Euros. The fee includes:
conference pack
coffee break refreshments

Accommodation

Hotel reservations will be made by the organizers upon request. Prices will
range from 40 to 80 Euros per night (single or double room, breakfast
included).

Meeting Description:

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Houston
will be celebrating our III Graduate Symposium on Latin American, Peninsular,
and US Hispanic Literatures, Linguistics, Cultures, and Creative Writing. 

The Spanish Graduate Student Organization (SGSO) and LACASA Student Editorial
Group at the University of Houston invite graduate students to submit abstracts
for our III Graduate Symposium on Latin American, Peninsular, and US Hispanic
Literatures, Linguistics, Cultures, and Creative Writing. Papers can be
presented in Spanish or in English. Creative Writing entries may be bilingual.
The conference will be held on September 14th and 15th. We encourage students to
submit abstracts in any subject and in fields such as Music and Film. Papers on
underrepresented fields are especially welcomed.  

We hope to provide a forum that encourages students of Hispanic Literatures,
Linguistics, and Creative Writing to engage in scholarly dialogue about issues
relevant to our academic interests.

Abstracts must be individual. Presentations must not exceed 20 minutes (7-8
pages maximum double spaced). Please submit an abstract of 300-400 words to
e-mail uh.symposium at gmail.com by July 15th, 2007.    
Your abstract should include a cover page with your name, institutional
affiliation, phone number, email address, a brief description of your academic
projects, and title of your presentation.
