Meeting Description: 

The 13th National Conference on the History of the English Language (SLIN
13)will be held in Lecce (Italy) from 7 to 9 June 2007. It will bring together
Italian and International scholars who will present papers and discuss topics
regarding the evolution of the English language across time. 

The SLIN group was founded in 1998 by Italian scholars and teachers of the
English language at University with the aim of developing the diachronic study
of English in Italy, and of improving the love for this discipline among their
students and younger scholars.

The Organising Committee is constituted of Susan Kermas, and Daniela Cesiri. The
Scientific Committee is composed of: Antonio Bertacca, Gabriella Di Martino,
Marina Dossena, Maurizio Gotti, Susan Kermas, Gabriella Mazzon, Nicola Pantaleo.

The SLIN 13 will revolve around the theme of ''Socially-conditioned Language
Change in a Diachronic Perspective'', and will see the intervention as plenary
speakers of Terttu Nevalainen (Helsinki), and Tony Fairman (Kent).

The Conference will be hosted by the Faculty and the Department of Foreign
Languages and Literatures of the University of Salento.
