Meeting Description: 

The Independent Learning Association invites you to attend its third
international conference to be held in Chiba, Japan, from October 5-8, 2007. The
theme of the conference is Exploring Theory, Enhancing Practice: Autonomy across
the Disciplines. The conference will be hosted by Kanda University of
International Studies [KUIS] which is located within easy commuting distance of
the heart of Tokyo, Narita International Airport, and Tokyo International
(Haneda) Airport.

3rd International Conference of the Independent Learning Association

Internationally recognized academics from Japan, the United States, France, and
Germany will address various strands of the conference theme. In addition to
this, 250 presenters from Japan and around the world will give papers under the
following strands:

Autonomy across the disciplines
Autonomy and the classroom
Autonomy and innovation in self-access learning
Autonomy and computer-assisted language learning
Autonomy and assessment 
Autonomy and child language learning
Autonomy and teacher education
Autonomy and distance education

Please note that this is a bilingual conference, Japanese-English. Simultaneous
interpretation will make the keynote and invited speakers' talks available in
both languages. Individual papers presented at the conference will be in either
English or Japanese depending on the preference of the presenter.
