As translators and interpreters we engage in a range of negotiatory activities.
We negotiate the frontiers and interfaces between languages and cultures; we
negotiate translation issues and problems; we negotiate rates, deadlines and
briefs with clients. We also engage with the range of expectations and demands
made of translators in our diverse cultures and working environments.

The organisers of the seventh Portsmouth Translation Conference invite
contributions from translation and interpreting professionals, scholars and
students on any topic relating to this year's theme. 

We welcome a broad range of approaches to translation, including presentations
with an empirical, critical, analytic, pedagogical, technological or
professional focus. Enquiries and abstracts to carol.osullivan at port.ac.uk.
Abstract deadline: 30 June 2007.

Youth Language
Die fünfte Internationale Tagung 
Perspektiven der Jugendspracheforschung

27-29 March 2008, University of Copenhagen

This is the fifth conference in a series which began in 1997 in Heidelberg,
continued in Osnabrück in 1998, Wuppertal 2001, Zürich in 2005. The event will
now for the first time take place in Scandinavia. Following the tradition of the
first 4 meetings the scope of the conference is to bring together research on
youth and language from various perspectives covering a diverse field of interest.

The official languages of the conference are English and German.

Invited Plenary Speakers:
Prof. Dr. Helga Kotthoff, Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg
PhD Ditte Laursen, Odense Universitet NN

Each paper presentation will be given 30 minutes for presentation followed by 15
minutes for discussion. 
Accepted posters will be displayed at a central location throughout the conference. 
Abstracts for both papers and posters should be sent to jugendsprache at hum.ku.dk
and may not exceed 1000 units including space.

Dates:
1st of November 2007: deadline for paper and poster abstracts
1st of January 2008: notification of acceptance
1st of February 2008: deadline for registration

The conference fee will be approximately 125 Euro
